the way up to new england. this is coming as several cities in the region are still dealing with the snow from last weekend's blizzard. elizabeth prann is live in new haven, connecticut with that part of the story. what are they doing with all that snow? i see it's still piled up behind you. >> yeah, that snow basically has nowhere to go because just like you said, cities across connecticut were slammed by that blizzard. something up to three feet of snow. in new haven, i want to show you the solution. basically we're seeing dump trucks come to this location and just dump tons of snow. we heard from city officials that 860 million pounds of snow fell. that was only on the roadways in new haven. that's not including private homes and roof tops. officials report they have requested additional federal funding. the president already agreed to reimburse 75% of the first 48 hours after disaster. the states are asking for an additional 24 hours, saying these are simply extraordinary circumstances. arthel. >> i say extraordinary indeed. 860 million pounds. that's a lot of snow, i'll tell you. >>

them those medals, it was announced today that the new york city teachers pension fund will divest all its money from gun manufacturers. the new york city teachers fund is pulling all of its investments, every cent from five companies that make firearms. that follows after california state teachers pension fund also took its money out of gun companies. and after the mayor of chicago said he is considering whether to get money from his city's pension funds out of the gun companies as well. it also follow cerberus, deciding to sell the giant gun company that they owned. a move cerberus made after a call from its client, a california public employees pension fund questioned their involvement in the firearms business. when investment firms and big pension funds start taking their money out of the industry of making guns, the politics here are taking a step up. this is not any more about the optics of grieving parents and frustrated law enforcement and what everybody believes is going to be the futility of trying to change anything. this is about taking the argument that something must be d

, even new york city now with blizzard warnings, expecting 12 to 18 inches there. this is going to be a blockbuster storm. the big question is can we get everybody off the roads in time? that's what the desire is hout . the government says, look, i want all unnecessary vehicles off the road by noon tomorrow. so if we have a scene like you see behind me here, larry, where i-93 is backlogged at this time tomorrow night, we're going to have a disaster on our hands. that means some of these people are going to be spend being the night in their cars riding out the storm. 35 years ago the famous blizzard of '78 it was rush hour and people got trapped in their cars. if they are in their cars this time, the same thing will happen. history will repeat itself. we will also have hurricane force gusts along the coastline. some of these areas that were weakened by sandy will be very, very vulnerable certainly to the storm surge and the wave action that will happen with this huge nor'easter. we expect to measure this one with a yard stick, larry, two to three feet expected here in boston. >>
